Fire and Embers

We're having the last of the fires we'll burn in the fireplace at this house, packing our treasures and preparing to move on to the next step of our residence in Asheville, our own home!  We've got some good motivation to get moving too!  On top of looking forward to our cozy new house and packing, the furnace of our good old rental house we've had for the last 3 years decided to kaputz, on the coldest weekend of the winter.  Whoopee!!  Even with space heaters in the bed rooms the general room temperature in the house is about 50 degrees.  Brrr!!

Enter the kindness you experience in a smaller urban community like Asheville and Bob O'Connor a facebook friend I'd never met in person, who stepped up and said he would share some of his firewood with us so we could sit in the living room a few hours a day without our teeth chattering.  Our hero!! Thanks so much for the help Bob!  Special something in the mail to you as soon as we get settled, from me and the family!

Cass also dug into some 'nigh invulnerable' log rounds and busted them down very neatly.  Yay for my own personal superhero! The house is warmer and cozier tonight for our efforts and we should have enough now to see us through to closing!

Indoor temp. after the sun had been up a few hours and the fire had burned all night.
