We've been adopted again, this time by a gen-u-ine racing pigeon. According to the leg band tracking number it's from Beaver Falls, Pennsylvania released from a pigeon racing club based out of Foy's Pigeon Supply just a little over 500 miles north of here. How cool is that? It's been hanging around the roofline of Hopeville for about a month now, but we just started to be able to get close enough for me to read the band. I'm going to give the group a call on Monday and let them know where it's at. I can't help but imagine I will be calling a place completely populated by "Berts".
Post Update: We contacted the pigeon place and they directed us to a fellow in Pasadena, MD who said it wasn't his bird but he would have the record of whose tag it was. He very kindly offered to let us keep Pidge (like it's going anywhere other than the yard and the roof anyway) and says he'll send me a book about "How to care for your pigeon." So it looks like the bird's here to stay, come on by and say Hi! and when you're done I can show you my bottle cap collection.
