Blind Pig: Escoffier - Dinner for the King

Blind Pig's most oppulent dinner to date, Escoffier: Dinner for the King was held at Homewood on March 18, which just happens to be my birthday.  Did you think I would want to sit this one out for cake and ice cream at home? Not a chance!

At the turn of the last century (1900) Escoffier basically wrote THE book on fine French cuisine, focusing not only on recipes but the the details of preparation (think how best to prepare a grouse or behead a turtle) and maintaining order and organization in the kitchen.  The very talented chef team of the evening, Brian Canipelli, Camp Boswell, Matt Dawes, and  Jeremy Hardcastle brought their own interpretation of some of these recipes to life especially for the Blind Pig.  Asheville's Homewood was the perfect setting for this dinner and brought it's spectacular period ambience to our happy crowd who were decked out in top hats, feathered masks, emu hats and ostrich boas!   A rich and fanciful evening all around, what a beautiful birthday present!
