Asheville Blogger Society

I went to a happy little meet and greet of the recently re-convened Asheville Blogger Society this week.  We all got together at Asheville Brewing downtown to count noses and talk blogs.  Apparently this hasn't happened for a while so it was nice to sit down with folks from all different fields and talk about the thing we have in common, our blogish-ness.  The main focus of the society is networking, socializing and most importantly, as one fellow so aptly put it 'just a chance to get out of the house.'

The speaker for this meeting was Tracie Acreman, photographer, blogger for Image Asheville and member of the brand new WNC Ad Guild which is having their launch party next Friday, March 16 in the River Arts Distric.  The Guild will connect local business advertisers from WNC with local bloggers. It is a great alternative to Google Adwords and the like, which posts whatever ad is paid for on your site, no matter if it's out of the area, ugly or even competitve.  I see this as an excellent opportunity to keep it local and raise interest for both sides, bloggers and advertisers, within our community and the world beyond.
