Heirloom Tomato Crazy
Pop, the AK (short for Alter Kaker), my father in law, has been visiting with us in town for the past few weeks. We headed out to the City Market this morning. Pop, you see, is a tomato connoisseur, and I believe it may just be his mission to try every variety of tomato grown for the sheer experience. He was like a kid in a candy store at the Farmer's Market today. We bought 3 different varieties of tomato from three different stands, trying to spread the love around. We ended up with a Golden Woodle, a pair of Cherokee Purple and some Brandywine Pinks. These are what Pop calls, a tomato's tomato and he did look so pleased to go home to his tomato feast. Enjoy em Pop! Me I just like the names that folks give them. I almost bought a Radiator Charlie's Mortgage Lifter tomato just so I could say I'd eaten one. For more info on the Mortgage Lifter check out this interview.
